Production Processes

Where tradition, technology, and nature meet

Juniper dryer

The juniper berries undergo a precise drying process that preserves all their medicinal and aromatic properties. In our dryer, maintained at 50/60 °C, the berries are carefully dehydrated to a moisture content of 14–16%, losing up to 30% of their mass while retaining their full original value.

The process begins with gently removing needles, twigs, soil, and stones by blowing and sieving. Each berry must be perfectly cleaned before entering the dryer, where controlled conditions achieve the optimal texture for further processing. The dried berries are then packed in multilayer bags and stored in dry, well-ventilated rooms, giving them a shelf life of three years.

Distillery for processing juniper

The distillery represents the technological pinnacle for obtaining the highest-quality juniper essential oils. Using steam distillation, we extract the most valuable aromatic components that make juniper indispensable in the gin, spice, and cosmetics industries.

The distillation process takes place in boilers of various capacities, where juniper is placed on a perforated tray through which heated steam passes. The steam extracts the juniper’s essential oil and carries it to a condenser, where it cools and returns to a liquid state. The essential oil naturally separates from the water due to density differences, producing a pure, natural, aromatherapy-quality product.

uniper essential oils – value in every drop

Our distillery uses steam distillation to extract the pure essence from Golija juniper berries, producing an oil rich in alpha-pinene and sabinene. This essential oil naturally combines powerful antiseptic and detoxifying properties, making it exceptionally suitable for aromatherapy and cosmetic products. It is also a key ingredient in premium gin production, where its clean, resinous aroma elevates the flavor to a higher level. Each batch undergoes rigorous testing, ensuring the pharmaceutical and food-grade quality our clients expect.

Cold storage – the guarantee of freshness and quality

Our cold storage facility, built in 2017, is the technological heart of our production. Two freezing tunnels, each with a daily capacity of 6 tons, allow us to process up to 12 tons of fruit per day while fully preserving all natural characteristics.

The precise process begins by pre-cooling the fruit from 25 °C to 0 °C with controlled relative humidity of 90%, followed by deep freezing at –30 °C to –35 °C for 12–14 hours. Final storage is maintained at a constant –18 °C, with no temperature fluctuations to prevent fruit from sticking together. This system guarantees that each piece of fruit retains its natural flavor, color, and full nutritional value.

Transport and Export

Specially equipped vehicles for transporting organic products ensure that the quality developed on our plantations arrives unchanged to the end customer. Each truck is fitted with temperature and humidity monitoring systems during transport, which is especially important for preserving the quality of essential oils and dried juniper.

Our logistics team coordinates all aspects of export – from packaging according to specific customer requirements, through the necessary documentation, to tracking the shipment to its final destination.
